MaleAbout Wilhelm Carranza
Raised in Guatemala, Physician Assistant Wil Carranza witnessed early on how meaningful compassionate and accessible care can be for families and underserved communities. Those experiences inspired his path into medicine and shaped the way he approaches patient care today.
Wil chose Family Medicine because he values caring for patients across all stages of life and building long-term relationships. He enjoys helping people understand their health in a simple and supportive way, and he strives to create a comfortable, respectful environment where patients feel heard.
Wil earned his undergraduate degree from Weber State University and completed his Master of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Utah. His clinical training included family medicine, pediatric medicine, internal medicine (inpatient), emergency medicine, psychiatry, cardiothoracic surgery, urology, general surgery, and obstetrics/gynecology, including 2 weeks in maternal–fetal medicine. He also completed a rural international rotation in Guatemala, which strengthened his commitment to serving diverse and underserved populations. These experiences helped him develop a well-rounded, thoughtful approach to primary care.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, Wil feels grateful for the opportunity to connect with families from different backgrounds and make care more accessible to the community.
Outside of work, Wil loves spending time with his wife and four children, watching his kids practice Jiu-Jitsu, staying active, and playing soccer in the community. On Sundays, you’ll find him attending church with his family. He also enjoys cooking and exploring new places together.
“Caring is connection, says Carranza. “By treating each patient like family – with empathy, respect, and honest communication, I work so that my patients to know I’m always in their corner. Many are surprised by how conversational and collaborative the visit feels. I take time to make sure they’re comfortable and involved in every decision.”
Wil is honored to join Parkview and looks forward to caring for patients and families in a compassionate, approachable, and meaningful way.
